Spare engine block still has all crosshatching. It did have 2 dry bearings, so the crank would need to be cut .010 on 2 journals. The 2 corresponding connecting rods are discolored, near the base, so I'd have them replaced if rebuilding it. The PI heads and cams (and bearings) are in great shape (still have crosshatching).
The spare engine also came with its own manifold, throttle body, wiring, coils etc..
In reality, Using the PI heads on either block, with choice of pistons (PI pistons vs. non-pi pistons will vary compression, so you'd have a choice). Or, you could just run the PI cams on the non-pi engine and get approx 70% of the added HP, IMHO
Personally, I'd rebuild the spare and just keep it on an engine stand. The current motor runs great, doesnt use oil, which is why I've waited.
