Painting 22 year old cabinets

Last weekend I tore out the carpet and the original linoleum 12x12 squares. At least what is exposed. Replaced it with sticky back vinyl faux wood planks. Today removed cabinet doors, drawers, shelving, and all gear to get ready to sand my 1996 tired looking cabinets. Tomorrow will be a day priming, caulking, and building new doors, drawers, shelves, and a counter top for over the fridge.

Yesterday I stuffed a bunch of insulation into the side doors and discovered a wiring harness hanging down inside the door. It turned out to be a plug for a speaker, and when I plugged one in, it worked, so I decided to install it. I had to cut the opening in the door panel, but all went well until I re-installed the fold up door mounted table and discovered that it covers half the speaker. Oh well............

Nice addition Squirrel!

HellBetty got shined new glass and now is at body shop getting surface rust addressed. I know i know most of you talented gents here do it yourself but I’m too busy packing to move, and watching 4yo grandson while his dad is on a job site on Lake Huron this month. Hmmmm I’ve been too dang busy so maybe i should head up there next, the kid likes to camp and may be good mosquito bait.

Can someone please remind me what POR stands for and a source? No one aRound here seems to know what it is... Thanks

WHAT IS THE BEST SURFACE ON WHICH TO PAINT POR-15?
POR-15 likes rusted surfaces best. Seasoned metal and sandblasted metal are also good. POR-15 does not adhere well to smooth, shiny surfaces, but will adhere well to those surfaces with the proper preparation.

WHAT IS THE 'PROPER PREPARATION'?
We make a product called 'Metal-Ready'. It's a rust remover that leaves a zinc phosphate coating on base metal, the perfect preprimer for POR-15.

(.. Do you still spec that if metal is prepped down to shine?)

Hey Arctic can you share what material you used for your screens?
Did you retro fit some or make them from scratch?

I was thinking of the latter but noticed Skreenz and he talks about developing the materials... may be worth buying unless I can find as good a raw material.
Order Skreenz
