6.0L Optimal Scanguage 3 monitor settings?

Hello,

I just upgraded my ScanGuage 2 to a ScanGuage 3. The 3 has a much better display and can show 9 sensors on the screen and it has the ability to set warning thresholds for various sensors.

My suspicion is that someone on this forum has already configured their ScanGuage 3 to display and warn on the most important sensors for the 6.0L engine. Can anyone share that info?

Thanks!

Coolant temp
Oil temp
FICM voltage
ICP Duty cycle
ICP Pressure
Boost
Trans Temp
^^^Must Monitor

Injector Pulse Width
Battery voltage
^^^Optional - Not much you can do with Injector Pulse Width and battery voltage is not always super accurate through the OBDII Port.

Thanks Big_ern.

Any suggested thresholds to generate warning on? Maybe > 220 on water and oil temp. and Trans temp > 210. FICM < 47.

FICM should always be over 47V so alarming under that is good
Alarm atmoree than 220F on water, more than 240F on oil
If everything is going well the water temp should be between 190 and 195 and the oil temp should be 5-15 degrees higher than water temp.
220 is the high point on the trans, I would do as you suggest and go alarm at 210.

I would monitor these:
Pair EGT with RPM and Boost
Pair ECT with EOT and Trans Temp
FICM voltage
ICP Pressure
Air Intake (simply because it gives me an idea on how hot it gets under the hood when i'm not pushing air through the front grill - it's alarming how hot it can get!).

Alarm set points are a frame of mine; would you rather they acknowledge you're approaching an area you'd prefer not achieve, or just sound off when you get to your finish line?
Personally, I would rather have some forewarning, allowing some time to reevaluate and the opportunity to change tactics. I wouldn't set the alarms to go off too prematurely - that would just get annoying.
For Me: ECT would be 225, EOT 225, Trans Temp 210, FICM 48, EGT's 1200, ICP 550, Air intake 150...when any of these readings hit my target, I know its not the end of the world but instead informs me from that point on to monitor the offender(s).

Yeh Joe, These days I'm finding myself double checking much more of what I do, and still miss some of the more obvious stuff. I edited my post, Appreciated the call-out.

You're not alone my brother. I've just started monitoring trans temp on our last trip so I was hoping that was the case.

I know I'm soon to be in a 6r140 but on my 5r I added a trucool and I swear it never went above 170. I towed a toyhauler to san fran and over sikiyou summit it still stayed under 180. Bigriver needs big cool! Mine is coming off soon. Maybe a flea market freebie!
