Posting Images

When are we going to be able to simply drag and drop images into our posts like every other forum does now? Having to link to outside url's or manually type in BB code is old tech. Thumbnails are not fun either. I simply want to insert a full size image into my post and see it when it comes up to view. Thanks!

Posting Images -- I agree -

Establish details of max file size to drag/drop/upload - No one can expect massive file size photos - they are not needed -- maybe even a "rotate" function ? And a "distinguishable" icon out in the open to signify "upload images." Maybe we should all "pony up" a few bucks to pay forum leaders to adapt forum tools to enable this ? Put me in for $ 20 bucks !

I would pay a small fee to get past the present annoyance. For now I just use Flickr, and no it's not at all simple. It's simpler than posting through this forum though.

I'm in. Posting photos here is a PIA. I would like to work pics in the test forum and then move them to the relevant forum.

I'm sure the lack of photo hosting on this particular site is a cost-saving move--frankly its not that big a chore to store your images on a hosting site and then use SMB's photo link to have them display in any one thread or reply.

Sites like Imgur make this relatively easy, at least IMHO.

Yeah its easier to drop n drag directly but its a small thing given the many other benefits we enjoy here.

Question on using image URL's - I can never seem to get them to work from google photos. I right click, copy image location, and paste - but they never actually show up.

Is it a privacy thing? Is there another way to do it?

Download from Google photos to your desktop then click on attachment (paperclip icon) in toolbar above text box, hit choose file, browse to the image and hit upload. Then preview your post to see if and where they land in your post.

Yeah, that's what I've been doing - was just hoping there was a way around that by linking directly to the photo instead.

OK - just reminded myself how to insert pics in-place in a post.

Upload the pics to an album in your user profile - networking - pictures and albums - add album. Once they are in there when you click on a pic you will be giver the option of two links - picture url and BB Code. copy the BB code link and past in-line in your post. Cumbersome but it works.

Bingo

Let me add:
If you want them to show up in correct orientation (many end out posting upside down or sideways) you just have to “crop” them slightly first. Then “save” - now when you post them up they will always show up as intended.
I went through the same issue (as many do) back in 2015 and someone (don’t recall who or I’d gladly call them out for the assistance) on the forum sent me a PM.
Has worked ever since.
