Re: Don's Sportsmobile build

Hopefully the Danhard isn't too loud. A lot of overhead A/C units are quite loud, sometimes too loud to sleep under.

Do you know what Danhard model came with your van?

Re: 12v air conditioner vs Danhard

I know it has been a while... but how has the Danhard treated you so far?

Re: Generators

On Sprinters, I looked at a Powertech 3000 watt generator, and because it is well out of the angle of departure, as well as protected by a skid wheel, it should be well out of harm's way.

I...

Re: Van heating options?

If one has propane, a Platinum Cat from ventedcatheater.com might be an idea. It would require a hole put into the exterior, but this would be a decent way to get heat and have the combustion gases...

Re: SMB posted this video in FB

There is a YouTube vid of someone taking a SMB through Moab hot-tubs. Normally, those are Jeep, and Jeep only.

Re: Desperation or Trickery? Either way pathetic

I was thinking an "R-Type" sticker as well. I still remember when everyone and their brother was sticking those stickers on virtually any vehicle, even if never came near a Honda or Acura part or...

Re: Don's Sportsmobile build

How well does the Danhard A/C work for you guys? I like the fact that having it gives a lower clearance than a normal roof mounted A/C, but I wonder how well it will work in the Texas heat come...

Re: Aftermarket Sprinter Alloy Wheels

I also like the look of the Warrior wheels. It definitely helps the look of the van, but does not break the bank, compared to other wheels which can cost order of magnitudes more. Something else to...

Some notes about 2014 Sprinters...

I am not sure if this is an Engine topic, or general Sprinter chassis, so making an educated guess. Apologies in advance.

If ordering a 2014 Sprinter, they come with the four-cylinder engine...

Re: Camping Gear list, what are the top 20 items?

I found an app for both Android and iOS that offer repeating todos (allow one to tick off tasks, then when time to check again, clear the boxes without having the tasks automatically delete...

Re: FIRE!

I've always thought having a catastrophic fuse with an amp rating of the complete wired in system might be wise. That way, if something shorted to ground, the batteries wouldn't explode. One might...

EMS or active inverter as part of the SMB build?

I'm looking at two things for a potential build. One of those is a hardwired EMS from Progressive, about 300 bones, but it has a voltage display.

On some of the RV forums, there are a lot of...

Re: Have you taken a look at ProMaster vans in person?

I know this is almost verging on a necro thread, but I took a look one last week. It will be interesting how this is upfitted because it has a few hurdles:

1: It is low to the ground. Fitting a...

Re: EB110s or EB154s?

It has been a while, but I think that might be the ideal solution, where one has access to two fuels for redundancy. I talked with the SMB place in Austin, and there is no problems using an...

Re: Factory Sprinter 4x4

I read somewhere that the 4x4 option is only for the short 2500 version. Anyone have any info to confirm or deny this?

Re: Cover my ride - Sprinter Carports/Garages and more

Very impressive. I was going to comment about adding a 30 amp circuit, but for most intents, the 15-20 amp electricity should do the job, especially keeping the batteries topped off.

Re: Composting toilet

I looked at a Nature's Head toilet. The urine goes into a plastic bottle, the poop drops into a bin with some peat moss, and in theory, it gets broken down.

The good:

Very limited stuff to...

Re: Extra diesel fuel tank possible?

It isn't a tank, but I wonder how useful a pack mount and Rotopax fuel containers would be. They are expensive relatively, but with a locking T-handle, will stay in place.

For me, a hitch mounted...

Re: whitefeather sprinter conversion anyone?

There are a lot of rumors about a 4x4 Sprinter model coming to US shores in 2015, but like all rumors, we have always had the 4x4 model arriving "next year" for a number of years now.

Re: Cover my ride - Sprinter Carports/Garages and more

One thing that might be nice, while designing your carport, perhaps consider adding in a power pedestal and a sewage clean-out.

Don't call the clean-out a "dump station" or else every neighbor...

Re: Ford Transit Van replacing Econoline for Sportsmobile?!

I am extremely interested in what Transit can bring. The diesel one especially, if coupled with a flat plate water heater, Webasto stove, diesel furnace, and a Powertech generator. At the minimum,...

Generated questions -- powertech generator

The interesting thing about the Powertech PT-3SV2 generator is that it can fit under a Sprinter, which almost no other generator, especially something that requires as much precision as a diesel, can...

Re: Suspend me? Suspension questions.

This is very good info. I'm probably going for a 3500 van next cycle (orders in May, produced in September), so this might come into handy.

Re: External door locks?

I saw a site called slicklocks which made mounting brackets for the hockey puck locks that fit around the latch mechanism. The advantage of their system -- no additional holes need to be drilled...
