Re: Sprinter high-roof or penthouse

Thanks!

canoe4me, what high-wind restrictions are you referencing?

David, do you recommend the dually for the 144" wheelbase too?

Re: Provan Tiger CX - 2002 GMC 3500 CrewCab 4x4 DIESEL RV

Hello,

Just an FYI- something that's not readily apparent from the pictures, but becomes painfully obvious in person is that it is extremely difficult to move from front seats to the coach on the...

Re: Annoying to "break camp" every time you want to drive?

Thanks. I'll have to go through your old threads to get more info on both of your trailers.

But do either of you know your trailer's weight? Only wondering cause if it's light enough, my Accord...

Re: Sprinter high-roof or penthouse

Thanks all! I've actually been in Sprinters with and without a Penthouse. I like the feeling of the Penthouse more. But for practical purposes described earlier, I'm still considering the...

Re: Wind and High Roof Sprinters

What is the wheelbase on your vehicle? Wondering if short or long wheel base perform better in the wind. Also, wondering if the low-roof is much better.

Re: Sprinter high-roof or penthouse

Thanks. If I get the penthouse, it wouldn't be for the extra sleeping room. It would be for more headroom and openness at the campsite. But I'm wondering if the closed in feeling of the high-roof...

Sprinter high-roof or penthouse

Hello,

Do you have the highroof or penthouse? Are you happy with the choice?

I like the simplicity of the high-top. Always "up". Don't have to worry about finding level ground for opening. ...

Re: Another "not-a-van"

Cool design! Wouldn't want to fill it up at the gas station though.

Thanks! Lots of good info here. Feel free to post about any aspects of breaking camp, but I'm most interested in experiences/tips regarding driving while staying a campsite.

I'm guessing...

Annoying to "break camp" every time you want to drive?

I've heard one of the major drawbacks of a Class B is that you have to kind of "break camp" every time you want to drive.

Do you find that to be a major drawback? About how long does it...

Re: Mercedes low-floor Sprinter chassis and similar options?

Good to know. Always assumed the low clearance was related to the lowered floor.

Re: Mercedes low-floor Sprinter chassis and similar options?

Don't know much about lowering floors. But for any given amount of interior height, the RAM Promaster will have a significantly lower exterior height than a Sprinter. Detailed specs can be found...

Re: Mercedes low-floor Sprinter chassis and similar options?

The RAM ProMaster has front wheel drive. One of its big selling points is it's lower floor with a load height of 21 inches. That's 6 or 7 inches lower than Sprinters and E-Series.

Yodavan, thanks for the idea. I'd get a quote from CCV and SMB. I know CCV has some cool features, good customer service and competitive pricing; but I'm leaning towards Sportsmobile for the...

Re: Why is this a crazy idea?

Wow, thanks for all the great feedback.

Herb, the other day I was talking to someone who had been RVing for 40 years. He didn't like the whole class B idea for that same reason. Said it's a pain...

Why is this a crazy idea?

Okay, I've done a lot of tent camping and am very comfortable with my setup.

Honda Accord v6 (24 mpg city/hwy average)
10X10 Canvas tent.
Cot with air mattress.
duffle bags, plastic bins....

Re: What do you know about Dodge Ram Vans?

Thanks for all the info and the link. I'm in the Orlando, FL area but will catch a plane for a good deal. Stanw909 is that 15-19 mpg highway miles or overall highway/city combo miles?
