What wood are you using to build your cabinets? Looks like 3/4 ply of some sort. For edging it looks like you may be...

100% spend the money on a stereo wiring adapter. Crutchfield has them, and I'm sure other places do, too. It makes wiring up the stereo pretty painless. You can sit at your kitchen table and do it...
