I would by the adapter for the stereo wiring. They make life easy and if shopped online they are pretty cheap. Otherwise, cut and splice.

If you cut and splice, use solder or the heat shrink butt...

Thanks for sharing your build. Do you mind sharing additional info on the shower? I'm looking for a compact mixing valve / outlet and like the one you've selected.
