Rebadging complete
I finally finished the morphing of the Dodge Sprinter into a Mercedes Sprinter. You can see the result on the website.
Now I have to decide where to put a SMB label as I want any SMB's to know I am in the club too! The SMB 4wd's are pretty recognizeable but not so the Sprinter. I will probably put it in the rear over the license plate as I am being passed most of the time in my search for economy.
For my HO Association, I have been a stealty as a 9'4" vehicle can be and that is why the original SMB came off.
Regards,
Keith

That's because I am speaking of Sportsmobiles and Sprinters not Land Rovers . . .

Kieth,
What source did you use for your Mercedes conversion parts?
Thanks

I ordered from various sources. Most changes are easy except for the grille which will need to be painted and the steering wheel emblem for which there is not a good source. I checked photos of European Sprinters to make sure my 2500 was done correctly. Some have over-badged – using pieces that go on a 3500 and/or a US 2500. Parts for the 08 are the same for the 07 so you may see them listed on an invoice as such.
Sprinter Parts Depot
Rear Center Star Badge 07+YES Glass/NO wiper (this is the part for the center of the back door – 3 pieces) (10 minutes installation)
Mercedes Hood Badge (5 minutes installation)
Mercedes 2500 Alloy (wheels) Center Caps (5 minutes installation)
Mercedes Sprinter Conversions
Adhesive 318 CDI Rear Door Badge (30 minutes installation – you have to remove the badge that is there)
From e-bay
Mercedes-Benz Steering Wheel Horn Emblem (while this is a MB emblem, it is not what is on a European Sprinter) (30 minutes installation – you have to remove Dodge button – you’re left with a 50 cents piece that has concentric rubber rings at the bottom – I took those out but probably did not have to – the badge is actually Velcroed on with the Velcro bulk being inside the hole)
Sprinterusa
Grille (this is easily bent in shipping and the most expensive piece – some ship with other badge items you may or may not need)
(part took 4 days to get painted at a body shop) (90 minutes installation time – includes pulling the old grill)
Most of these links sell multiple products so you can compare prices/shipping, etc.
Regards,
Keith
