Exactly! We could always use more storage space.

I'd really like to fabricate a lockable cabinet that opens to the outside for easy tool or recovery equipment storage.
Lot's of things to consider with that idea though.

Mike Kovchain told me he has an idea of one for his Jeep. He'd be a great candidate to build whatever you come up with.

JVan - do you have a web address that works?

***I initially saved this because i thought it was a great idea - affords all types of possibilities.

That's the best you can find. They had listings for these plates under their in house products page but it just returns a 404 now.

I modified mine a bit to make it more consistent, liquid tight, and secure.
I like the way it turned out. I like the passenger windows because I like to see out. This window will be covered by cabinets inside so I thought I'd take it out.
I never finished this thread but you can see where I was going. I don't have my van at the moment or I'd post a finished picture.

The Chevy vans had an option for that, it looks pretty cool but to me it has two issues.

1. The lower the better for your heavier stuff all that weight up high adds up and increases your center of gravity.

2. It doesn't seem like the most efficient use of space to have tool boxes come into the van in the window area.

I eventually want to do something like this but either at the floor elevation or at the lowest point of the body. Basically what you see on Class Bs for the genny box, propane, tanks, ect. You also see similar doors on news vans and bucket truck vans.

If you can dream it, Mike can make it and the quality will be second to none.
