Also for 25k, that gets me 2/3 of a newer van in stock form. Hard to let go of something nearly perfect setup for us and mostly dialed in build for a minor amount of driveability improvement and a complete build all over again. All your comments definitely help for perspective.

I would put a pop top or high top on your van and fall back in love with it. The best van is the one you can take today.

I like keeping it. Weldtec is doing DIY 4x4 kits now too......

I can tell you you won't get mid 20's out of ANY new van! Best I could get out of an ecoboost Transit was about 16.

I love the weldtec stuff. Visited Jeremy last year on a road trip. He's a good guy and knows a ton of stuff. Pop tops definitely more enticing that 4wd right now. I don't mind the chains in the snow for what small amount of snow driving it gets.
And yes, I saw the Ecoboost tuned might get 18 if it's unloaded and light. Maybe. The 2.8l Dmax gets some decent mpg but I can't imagine it being very safe or fun to drive with that little power on a big built van.

Photos from last weekend. Grampswrx I think you're right. Best van to have is the one in the driveway sometimes.

No doubt. We might need to talk him back into selling it.

Pay him $1000 per MPG and you might get him to sell it!
