Re: 84 MPG Just needs a poptop! (no it's not 4x4)

I am kinda fond of what the guys at Lit Motors are coming up with. I am not sure it it will ever make it to production but some of the videos are cool nevertheless.

Cool video:

I have been watching this with interest to see when they get Canadian aproval. Both my wife and I ride and it may be an option.

Pretty neat they can make it stand on it's own. It does look terrible IMO, and for me one of the coolest parts about riding is the balance and such it takes. The safety factor is way cool, but I don't know, it just seems like some things are better left untouched. Call me a luddite.

Jage, if you really are concerned about the mailbox trip and short grocery trips, get an electric bike and trailer or an electric cargo bike. There is a company in the south somewhere that makes a fully enclosed trike for around $5K. If the problem is the car, there's not much point in replacing it with something that behaves like a car, costs the same as a car and takes up as much space, even if it does get 84 mpg. An ebike will get you the equivalent of 100's of mpg, cost a hellova lot less and will fit next to the car in the garage. Ebikes are getting really good and are starting to spread. Endlesssphere.com is a good place to start.

I like it, out of the box thinking. However, I wouldn't jump on the wagon until the company is on solid ground. It's too bad we don't have some of those real small production diesels in the smaller cars like they do up in Canada or Europe. We could see this kind of mileage in cars that are out there now.

I remember the Aptera only too well. Rumors keep circulating that the Chinese company that bought them are still going to start manufacturing. I am not holding my breath but it would be great to see, the Aptera was a remarkably well thought out and engineered vehicle.
