Traveling with the dogs can definitely make things a little more challenging when venturing into national parks, other countries, wildlife areas, etc but the trade off is SOOO worth it. They are our kids and we wouldn't dream of traveling without them!

Nice to see other dog owners.
One of the big reasons we are planning on a SMB is because of our dogs. I don't like to go anywhere without them.
2 miniature Dachshunds and a Jack Russell. 3 of the most spoiled fur kids you will ever meet.

Ok, I need to chime in with a picture of our new dog. Oreo is a Border Collie / Australian Shepard mix. This picture is about a month old and he has grown quite a bit in that time. The huge front paws have us frightened on how big he'll get.
We took him on his first camping trip this weekend and he LOVES the great outdoors!

We have had our dog for 4 years, in that time she missed one trip in the SMB, and that was pretty early on. Since then, if I look like I am going in the SMB then Sally will jump inside. So far I have not been turned away from any campsite, some may charge a extra fee. Make sure you have a copy of the dogs shot records, I was asked to produce these for a state campground in New York once. It does appear to be getting worse, with more restrictions, and is certainly challenging at times, but worth it.

Yeah, he's had his moments...but he's pretty well behaved. I've heard some real horror stories from others though.

That's a real handsome kid! Presley only weighs about 25 pounds so he will be about half the size of yours looks like.
Regards,
Keith

We have been traveling with our Bengal cat Indiana Jones (Indy):
Most of the trails with restrictions that we have encountered in state parks specifically state "No Dogs"...they don't say anything about cats. We were recently in a California State park near Mendocino and did a hike with such a sign prominently displayed at the trail head. On the way back to the van, we met a ranger who obviously looked at our cat on his leash and thought about the restriction before walking by us without saying anything...
