Re: Lucky
Thank you rallypanam. You've re-confirmed my opinion of SMB 'craftsmanship'.

Re: Lucky
Strange, I've seen cuts like that over the years and others that are straight and smooth. Seems like they got better over the years or started using some better tools.

Re: Lucky
Yes. I think that some days/years are better than others...
I was trying to explain yesterday the concept of loving my Sportsmobile, but not loving Sportsmobile..

Re: Lucky
Wish I had some better pics of my SMB cuts when Derek replaced my top, I'll see if he took some, would throw more wood on the fire, cause if I recall, it wasn't to purdy under there, just sayin

Re: Lucky
If there is no structural issue, I'm not too sure how much the quality of the cuts matter if they are never seen, but it points to a general lack of craftmanship. The fuse issue is beyond belief. Do you have any idea what it goes to? Hopefully, it's just an abandoned circuit. You could pull it out and see if something quits to find out. Looking forward to seeing the new top installed.

Re: Lucky
On the cuts, there is definitely no real issue with sloppy cuts, they don't affect anything, but I like to see better work!
For example, here's two cuts on the van in the next bay here at CCV:

Re: Lucky
Those other cuts definately show a higher level of care and precision. It could be worse though. On my van, when doing the 4wd conversion, additional clearance for things like the diff and exhaust system was gained with a very large hammer. Not the best method, but effective. New top looks great. Did you get the insulated canvas?
