After departing Moab, we headed for Goblin valley state park. It was a mad house with probably a hundred kids roaring around, a full parking lot, and a long line for the toilets. Mrs A/T did a hike for about an hour and escaped the madness, but I was really ready to go when she returned. From the park, we headed up into the mountains behind the park and found solitude along with incredible vistas. We settled into an amazing campsite about a mile above the last motor home. That was the last time we saw another human for two days. The next morning we laid out a 50 mile loop, but had no idea what to expect. We followed a well groomed dirt road headed towards a huge spire and took every side road we came across. We discovered abandoned uranium mines, old cars, antelope, and some of the most amazing scenery I have ever come across. It was truly magical. It took all day, and during the entire time we never saw another person. That night we camped in the same spot again and we were rewarded with amazing views in the morning. After breakfast we headed down the mountain and within 10 minutes we passed the herd of motor homes, trailers and tents. I just couldn't believe how fortunate we were to be able to make our way past the crowds and have the amazing wilderness all to ourselves for two days. Vans rule.

Sounds/looks like you all are having a great time. Once of these days I'll get back to UT for some exploration in my SMB.
