Headed for the Tetons this past weekend for some winter camping and photography. I haven't been out in the SMB since November. Camped (parked) at Colter Bay in the north part of Grand Teton National Park. You can stay in the parking lot from December 1st through April 15th near the visitor center for $5 per night. Everything is closed, but they keep the bathroom at the visitor center open. Its clean and warm. There were three other vehicles and one tent both on Friday and Saturday.
Coming in on Friday, early evening, I headed for the north end of the Park. This bull moose was feeding in the willows along the road just before Moran Junction.
It was getting late so I headed for Colter Bay and camped for the night. There is several feet of snow at Colter bay, but the weather was good. Got down to around 22 degrees at night.
Walked into Cunningham Cabin on show shoes for sunrise on Saturday morning. Clouds were covering the top of the mountains but Mother Nature is in charge, not me. I've been to the cabin before, but never in winter.
Stayed at the parking area and had some breakfast after the short hike. It was the beginning of a beautiful day. Sunny, blue skies and temperatures up to 43 degrees.
Explored the rest of the day. Saw lots of moose and enjoyed the sunshine. Took a nap and read a book. The skies remained blue with a few clouds but the clouds never moved off the mountain range. I was hoping for a sunset picture but not in the Tetons on Saturday.

Slept in a little on Sunday because it was overcast and I knew the mountain range would be socked in. On the way out from camp I saw a fox. Might have been the one that visited camp the night before.
It was curious, so it stayed fairly close. The first picture is cropped slightly, but the next two are full frame. It gives you an idea of how close it came to me.
Hiked down to the Snake River at Pacific Creek in show shoes. As soon as I got down to the river a moose came out of the trees. Gives an idea of how deep the snow is.
Got lunch in Jackson and headed home early afternoon. Stopped north of Alpine, Wyoming to take pictures of the goats. I've hiked up the hill in past years but today, they were grazing down near the road.
Great weekend, good weather and lots of animals posing for the camera. Was hoping for pictures of the Teton range but, like I said, Mother Nature is in charge.
