Jeremiah and I were probably no more than 10 miles (an hour due to the washboard-just ask Myriad) away and I had to have the squelch down to hear him. I was surprised how well it worked.
I have the K40 antenna with a Uniden Bearcat PC78Elite Radio that has some minor tweak. It worked very well in my Jeep with my cheap Firestick Antenna. I am getting some noise with this radio with the K40 in my SMB when I accelerate though. The radio has a built in meter to calibrate which is nice but still get alot of noise when I accelerate.
