Re: Inverter & Alternator Advice/Experience?

It is not non-existent. It is just expensive:

From my van I have run the important motors in my house during power outages including the furnace and frig. Works best off the diesel because of the readymade two alternator setup. But will work on a gasoline engine too.

It sounds like you've more or less talked yourself out of it, for now anyway, but I must say a Honda 2000 generator is a lifetime purchase you won't regret. They are priceless when you need them and far and above the competition.

Re: Inverter & Alternator Advice/Experience?

Yeah this is one of those knee-jerk seeking a solution to a problem that was at best smoke in my hands! There seemed to be a profitable business segment I thought could be covered very well by an inverter but on closer examination it's not something I'll pursue.

E350 that's an awesome set up---thanks for sharing it.

Scotty I agree about the Honda generator---that's one of those things in the back of my mind would indeed be a great addition even if "just because". A friend in my same industry has one----I'm amazed how efficient, quiet and un-thirsty it is gasoline-wise. The cost is minimal considering its utility so apart from my rash "need" for an inverter the EU2000 could very well be an acquisition.

Thanks again guys---very enlightening info shared here!
