Re: Single burner stoves?

Bill's absolutely right about that. The Peak stove has a small footprint and the metal fins that support the cookware are thin so they don't provide much in the way of sideways resistance. If you're not careful when stirring, your pot will "walk" right off the edge.
But I still love mine.

Re: Single burner stoves?

I think I'm going to go with the 1-burner Peak (and ditch my 2-burner Century liquid fuel stove -- bad decision at REI to buy that instead of a classic Coleman a couple of years ago.)

If I can rig a bumper or back door cargo box, then I'd have a place to carry a one gallon propane tank. Hmmm. More reason to figure out a rear storage system like LenS.

Thanks.

Re: Single burner stoves?

One thing about a gallon sized propane tank is that is is not nearly affected by cold weather as those small bottles. For truely cold weather though you just can't beat white gas. My favorite stove was a SVEA 123 back in the old days until MSR came out with their line. I like the fact that the Sigg type fuel bottle also serves as the stoves tank which saves space. But sorry folks, I really love the 1 gallon propane setup. Plus you can run a heater with it if need be.

BW... I also have that stove you pictured and it likes to tip when you lift the pan off provided the tank is full (at least mine does) but still works nice and packs up small. Coleman has a couple, one similar to the one you showed but never seen it in use.

With the correct "T" adaptor this one can be used on top of a one gallon Tank with an extra outlet for something else.

In my bug out bag I keep a pocket rocket..fits in the palm of your hand but uses iso-propane.
