Jage, the pictures are back!

Thanks...looks like some new blood in there.

Edit: for some reason some of the pics are not completely downloading.

Re: Jage, the pictures are back!

Yay for the pictures being back!

A minor bug -- for some reason the full-size image is being loaded instead of the thumbnail image. Note how slow it is to load the pictures.

You have: /gallery/images/medium/4bca2a20ca9665138ed09aa17e902ac5.jpg

... instead of something like: /gallery/image.php?mode=thumbnail&album_id=116&image_id=5564

This happens in "Random" page, too.

Re: Jage, the pictures are back!

The reason I set it up that way in the header is when you log out you're not allowed to see galleries- the thumbnail mode is restricted to registered members, so new people visiting or pre-login you just get a broken image.

I'll look at both when I get a chance... got to be painful on a cell or dialup this way.

Dialup? Does that have something to do with a rotary telephone? I heard both mentioned at a museum, once.

It has seemed to slow the whole process down getting logged on and navigating through the site. ??? (not a complaint)

Re: Jage, the pictures are back!

Yes probably. Apart from them being full sized you have to realise that your browser, phone, or ISP will cache a lot of stuff you view- which means not only was the old single picture small but it was probably on your computer already... the polar opposite of that is having (currently) nearly 500 rotating images which limits the regularity with which the same ones come up. Everytime a new image comes up you download the whole thing grinding everything down. Not noticible on a piping cable connection, but hard to work around since I'm relying on other people's architecture and we have nearly 5000 images (4998 currently...) in the pool.

I often wonder what it would be like to actually understand anything IT folks are talking about.

Pax, I guess there's a big gap between IT and the id.....
