Not 2 minutes after leaving, a BMW t boned a Tacoma in front of me and sent the Tacoma flying into the van. Sigh.

Where do you get those bed hinges?

Is the penthouse top new?
Thank you! It was Jim’s idea and I’m glad I conceded to his recommendation. The material is called Hexaply and its absolutely awesome.

PH top was nearly new. It was a take-off from Timberline when they converted a van to a hightop.

As for the rockaway hinges… that’s a Jim question (if you’re lucky maybe he’ll share his secrets)

Now this is where we’re at currently… so close I can taste it.

Impact to the driver’s front wheel blew the steering gear so I upgraded to a RedHead unit. Alignment after this weekend, hoping the axle housing is not bent. Will update as we go

If you’ve read this far, cheers! Hope you like the van and if not, hey - that’s cool too.

What’s not to like?

Is the blank thing mounted under the rear seat/bed next to the cabinetry the Wolf (Truma) air/water heater? Do you have a link?

Looking great. Sorry to hear/see the accident, but happy to see you are past and almost back on the road.

Great transformation - sharp rig! You just experienced all of our worst fear, an idiot on the road.
Ah well, “Two steps forward, one step back” is still progress!

Correct, it’s very compact yet packs a real punch.

Thanks to the rest for the kind words, it was pretty disheartening to have all that time and hard work (not just my own) nearly ruined by others’ impatience/inattentiveness, but it was not my first time being pummeled by bad SoCal drivers

In April I was driving my spotless Lariat 7.3 F250 ext cab short bed with FWC Hawk camper. Was towing a 16’ Big Tex loaded up with furniture. I was rear ended on the 405 by a transit van doing 70, totaling the trailer and all of its contents, the truck, and even the FWC camper.

I’m just glad it wasn’t a repeat of that!
