Leak under shower

I have a leak coming out from under the shower. I tried to isolate the problem. First ran the water but had it empty into the kitchen sink, no leak. Next recaulked all boards still had a leak. I think it is somewhere in the drain. Anyone had this problem or know if there is a way to get to the drain without tearing apart the entire shower.

you might get more responses if you included photos, year and model. It's a little confusing too, how did the shower drain empty into the sink, isn't the sink much higher than the shower?

My guess would be where the strainer is connected to the drain. When the shower gets flexed from standing in it it can cause the seal to leak. You have to unscrew the drain trim on top, place plumber putty around the trim on the bottom side and rest the trim.
