Re: Alternate to Aluminess Front?
That road armor is pretty nice, I like that it has more of a minimalist look to many others and creates a more aggressive front end. I put the Aluminess on the front of my 7.3, but if doing it over, that road armor would be tempting. I've never had a problem with cooling and I've pulled my trailer and boat up through the mountains of Colorado and Utah. I think what Carringb said makes sense about opening things up around the grill, I also replaced my stock grill with a more open billet grill like Jeffery and have a larger exhaust. As a side note, I recently put on a mag-hytech tranny pan, almost doubles the fluid capacity and provides a much larger cooling area with fins, helped keep my tranny temps down. I have heard of people going with a larger trans cooler in the 7.3 if needed as well.
But if it's just engine temps you're worried about, I wouldn't worry too much about it in the end, the 7.3 never had the issues the 6.0 does when it comes to cooling, just go with the one you think looks the best.
