That's what I was going to recommend, weld on a custom front hitch, either DIY or a trailer hitch shop do it for you.
I've done this mod to my current van, and a couple trucks I've owned before the van.
Both times I started with a recycled rear trailer hitch, that happened to have a cross bar wider than my frame rails, where I just cut the rail to fit, welded it in place where I needed it, then trimmed the bumper (or not) to suit.
It's getting harder and harder to find anyone in California to tackle this kind of work. It must have something to do with liability and litigious state I live in...
