Re: First build

Removing all the trim around the cut required a lot of clearing away body filler goo.

A view under the rear pads that fill the void

completely removed top and hardware, bare metal to measure and finish the story board.

Re: First build

Just picked these up. I'll be working with Mgmetalworks on the install with his seat mounts. Looking forward to the comfort!

Re: First build

A couple weeks back I found this IPD rear sway bar in a junk yard.

I got around to installing it today.

I will post a write up in the suspension section.

Re: First build

Finally got around to installing my sienna seats and a door extension so my slider door clears my tires. I spent a day with mg metalworks and using his seat mounts and time we got the seats installed. The level of comfort is more than I realized. So much better than the ford seats. Having the ability to rotate the passenger side around for camp life will be awesome while camping.

Michael is an great fabricator. Having the option to install his well priced slider door extender rather than pay over 1000 to do it elsewhere was a great investment and also allows me to put more money into the van in other areas. Photos to come.

Also bought his newer style (2013 I think) mirrors from him and installed them in my 2000 van. There are a few modifications including drilling that is involved but they fit well and are an improvement over the small stock mirrors.

Here is a photo that shows the difference between the two mirrors.

Overall, these improvements have made a great difference. Can't wait to get moving on the camper interior and pop top.

Re: First build

My wife bought me a Rostra aftermarket cruise control for the van. There is a little bit of work to do because in my van you cannot just add a steering wheel with cruise. I ordered the black controls and will put it somewhere on the grey panel of the dash near the steering wheel. I am researching how to best install it and will then do a write up for any who are interested in installing this type of cruise control system on their van.

Re: First build

Just an update. Life is busy with a baby! I haven't had a chance to get my top installed yet but im still moving forward. Ive found a welder that I want to buy to make the necessary fabrication for the top attachment and for future bumper projects.

I also have some more sienna seats if anyone is interested in installing them in their van. Grey and a darker brown color toyota calls "Chestnut". Ill post an ad for them in the classifieds soon.
