MOAR photos!

So, first night was in Tahoe and I managed to pick up a lil extra gas money for the trip.

Second night in Boise-ish, where I met up with Shenrie. This was in the middle of all the fires, so the air quality was awful and the sun was blood-red.

Two views of my campsite in Yellowstone, plus some breakfast guests that scared the beejezus out of me as I was packing up the van. They weren't there when I was gathering up my gear. I opened up the back, stowed a few things, then rounded the corner of the van to make sure I'd gotten everything and boom - face to face with two lady elk.

The pic is at the neighbor's site after I backed off and got my camera, but they were right at my picnic table, maybe 10 feet away from me.

Wow, lots of water under the bridge since I posted last.

We moved to the CA desert in the middle of last summer cuz that's how smart we are. Unload a moving van with broken AC in 115 degree weather? Sure! It's a dry heat, right?

Lola is still our pride and joy. She helped with the move, and I still haven't found everything and put it all back the way I want it (where is my gosh darn French press??), but we've gone on a few trips anyway. Tahoe (again), Montana de Oro, that sort of thing.

I saw so many SMBs driving 395 and back that I lost count. Well over 20 each direction. Thought you could hide, huh? Not anymore.

So, what happens when you introduce a teenager to a Sportsmobile for a couple of years? He starts getting funny ideas about driving an ambulance is what. The kid, who is now 6'2", is halfway to his EMT certification. He'll be headed off to college next summer for a degree in Emergency Medical Services, with a stop in Paramedic-land before he graduates. If his interest holds and his grades are good enough, he's thinking of a career in emergency medicine and/or disaster management.

The hubs and I will soon be empty-nesters with two portable careers, and we're looking forward to lots of adventure time.

What Roswell is to UFO's, the 395 is to SMBs.

End of May = VAN SEASON!

We just finished our annual Memorial Day campout at Montana de Oro State Park in CA. There are ten or so families who have been going every year for about the last 40 years. Kids who drew up doing this campout have gotten married, had kids and now those kids have grown up doing the campout, too. I think we have four generations of campers now, three gens for sure.

After that, we overnighted in Laughlin, NV, on the way to Albuquerque for the kid's college orientation.

Next up - the Grand Canyon.

We finally got the van all put back together for camping (still haven't found the French press, had to borrow one).

Happy travels, everyone!
