Re: Quadvan Upgrades/Modifications etc....
I use Canon 5D II's for most of my work.
Can't comment on jack stands as I was just an observer.......

Re: Quadvan Upgrades/Modifications etc....
We used a pneumatic bumper jack, with mechanical safety stops, to lift the van. The floor jack under the axle was only to position the axle and raise the axle up and down to cycle it - it was not supporting the van's weight. Not sure where jack stands would be necessary or practical.
We took no chances with Brent's van, laborers are replaceable, but I couldn't afford to hurt his van!

Re: Quadvan Upgrades/Modifications etc....
So I was interested to see if my front sway bar was still on after reading about all the binding. Sure enough it's there. My van has a 4" lift from Quadvan. I assume that mine is binding up or John used the 08+ version carringb mentioned. Is there an easy way to tell the difference? Once I really checked things out its amazing how cheap the factory ford paint is on all the running gear. If you run without the sway bar I'd love to hear how it works/doesn't work. Man there sure is limited travel up front now that is see the gap from the bump stops. I'm pretty sure I'm bottoming out now that this thread has opened my eyes. Nice work baja sportsmobile on the work and everyone on the write up.

I felt the same way when I too had employees!
I ask about jack stands simply because I never let a hydraulic lift of any sort (without safety stops or catches) support anything longer than it takes to lift. That's just me though---not trying to advocate my practices are for everyone.
Thanks guys--I appreciate your comments.

I agree with you, they can leak down. This has metal to metal stops that can't be released without lifting again first. I can tell you these vans are heavy and need extra attention to safety.

Re: Quadvan Upgrades/Modifications etc....
VanDiesel, I am currently running with both sway bars disconnected. The van drives great but does wander a little on the freeway since disconnecting the front. Ramsey is going to make some drop brackets for the front sway bar to account for the lifted front and see if that straightens things out a little.
Overall very happy with everything but always looking for something better.
We are putting new Fox Shox on the rear in a week or so and I'll report back own the changes.

'08+ style has "end-links" to connect to the axle. This is similar to the stock van end-links but its basically a couple ball-joints connected with a rod, so it would be super easy to swap in longer or adjustable end-links.
The older style sway bar stabs into the axle housing with rubber bushings. No end links at all which is why it binds up.

Re: Quadvan Upgrades/Modifications etc....
Thanks for post....I may add new colis to my 1990 for increased height......
Mine was originally a quigley but it always rode well...never had death wobble....it had a Dana 44 but replaced with a Dana 60 and we built new adjustable 4 link.....rides great....
Comment: I had the rear sway attached like you do...but moved it above axle for more clearance....works and looks much better....
