What do you all think of this lock?

I am looking to upgrade and do not really want to go the hockey puck lock route.

Saw this on a truck yesterday and called them - very decent people.

One big problem, though:

My auto locking system and key fob get disabled. I don't really like that at all. What happens is that these just lock every time the door closes and you need to use a key to unlock them. That's great most of the time, but what if I want to keep the doors unlocked while camping? No good.

I like the upgrade over the cylinders and I even like that they lock all the time, but I don't think I like the hassle of always pulling out my key whenever I want to get in or out, such as at a gas station. I guess it's really best for work vans.

I couldn't bear the always lock feature. Even combined with a keypad, which would be only reasonable IMHO, it would still be annoying as heck every time you shut the door and needed one more thing.

Yes, that's a deal-breaker for me.

I have already seen this - I think it may have been in another post - but I don't love it:

The search continues.

Someone used to make a Cylinder (Vending Machine) style replacement for the existing door cylinders. Not pick proof but better than whats there. I have not seen them in any ads recently though.

Please let me know if you ever come across that. I was searching for aftermarket cylinders yesterday, but no luck so far.

Re: What do you all think of this lock?

Why not just take the lock out out all together like many of the F truck owners? You remove all the locks barrels and their internal mechanical connections and replace them with blank disks. Then just rely on keyfob & keypad (or decent alarm keyfob). Personally I'd leave 1 manual lock, probably on the drivers door. Seems the easiest way to get into Ford trucks & Vans is the lock itself and mechanical lock connection, so taking it out all together rather than adding other stuff seems a decent option on theory. Not sure if it works in reality, but I do like the idea.

This is where I am leaning. On my van if you unlock either of the front doors with the key all the doors unlock. I'll probably eliminate the key lock from both the back and side doors.
I believe someone posted previously about finding their side door lock partially jimmied.

Re: What do you all think of this lock?

which one specifically?

I like their rapid-prototyping stance.

Re: What do you all think of this lock?

I don't know specifically, haven't tried them. Just saw that they do make a line of cylinder/cam locks.
