I think if you have an adventure van and take it places no normal vehicle would go, it should make it a (small letter) sportsmobile.

This forum has included DIY builds, Quigley, Quadvan, and U-Joint conversions since it was first founded.

It's kinda like if you ask for a kleenex, do you need a Kleenex or just a tissue? Are your house walls Sheetrock or some other gypsum drywall? In some places, coke means any brand of soda.

Now if you have an EarthRoamer, we'd enjoy your trip reports and pictures, but you'd find better technical info on the ER forum or Expedition Portal. BTW, ExPo has a section for Sportsmobiles and 4wd van conversions. Nowhere near as comprehensive info as here, but another place to look if you're hard pressed to find the info you really need.

Lots of L brackets and MDF.

After pondering the question extremely hard for 3 minutes this morning, I agree this is the answer.

Welcome to the gang Handyman, you are welcome here whether you have a Sportsmobile or not. I'm going to answer your question literally:

A Sportsmobile is a brand of camper van. The Sportsmobile Forum is not affiliated with the Sportsmobile company. It was founded by a fan and has always drawn camper van fans of all types and no one here is affiliated with Sportsmobile.

Up until a few years ago there were essentially two types of adventure vans, Sportsmobiles and homemade ones. Now there are a million small companies as well as existing RV companies getting in to the overland van business.

We're pretty lax.
