AGM starter battery availability

I thought this would be easier but I've been to two auto parts stores and a Ford Dealer and all they offer me is a lead acid. My local Ford says the Motorcraft brand doesn't offer a AGM that will fit. (height clearance? he didn't know...shocker) I have a 2008 with V-10. You guys that have a AGM what brand are you using?

Any group 65 should work.

I've been using the same Odyssey starter battery for over 10 years now, so the higher initial cost has proven to be worthwhile.

Try a different dealer or person behind the counter.

I just bought 2 Motorcraft Group 65 AGMs at the beg of November from the dealer which happened to be the cheapest place. P/N BAGM-65-A

Interesting….even clicking on your link then using their “test fitment” button it says….unable to verify fitment on my 2008 V-10. That’s also what O’rielys and Auto Zone said about Optima and Motorcraft.

I paid $216 for each of Motorcraft AGM Group 65 batteries from the dealer. I needed to buy two for our 7.3 rig so I searched for the best price. Surprised me it was the Ford dealer. Soon I will need to buy another for our 5.4 rig. I will go back to the dealer.

Batteries Plus and every other supplier I checked was close to $300 or more.

The engine starting battery/ batteries for our rigs is Group 65. That is for V-8, V-10, 7.3, 6.0. Lead or AGM. I would go to the dealer and tell them the AGM part number and have them get you the price and AGM battery.

If you have solar and it is being used to maintain your starter battery then that contributed to the battery longevity. Our Bosch Platinum AGM's went nearly ten years of pretty extreme temps and usage starting a 7.3.

When looking up the Optima batteries, I see they recommend the Redtop 34, which I assume is a group 34 size. But group 65 is the size usually recommended. Which one is correct, 34 or 65? Will either one work?
