So the original owner drove it just short of 200,000 miles? That could be a record!

Re: Highest Mileage on an SMB
Hi;
I just bought the Sporty and will verify mileage through the stack of invoices I received with it.
I prefer to avoid a 1988 Ben Johnson moment here...
Regards,
Gavin

Re: Highest Mileage on an SMB
Hi;
Down there, where this van was sold new in 1982, only 5 digits were required on an odometer.
We are dealing with what is considered an antique vehicle in most jurisdictions!
Regards,
Gavin

Re: Highest Mileage on an SMB
236,700 by original owner. I've had it for just over two weeks and it just broke 240,000. Truck is in AMAZING condition and should get me another 200K without too many issues, knock on wood

Re: Highest Mileage on an SMB
Van is in storage for winter so can't say exact but it about 119,888 and I am original owner of this now 11 yr old van. Last trip from Michigan to Vancouver Island and back was 5,597 miles.

Re: Highest Mileage on an SMB
Len, you may be the winner of most miles with the original owner. Of course, you win nothing but the admiration of your fellow SMBers.

Re: Highest Mileage on an SMB
We had almost 300,000 on our old 1990 Chevy van. We bought it new and drove it for 20 years. It wasn't a SMB conversion, but we camped in it for 4 months straight one time. No pop top, but we were able to get 2 road bikes, 2 mountain bikes, all our climbing and hiking stuff inside the van and still were able to find room on the floor to sleep inside the van. On my next van, I will probably go back to less built in cabinets and just have a way to stack tubs and prevent them from flying around the van. Cabinets are nice, but everything you want is in the bottom somewhere. JMHO

Boy do I agree with the comment about cabinets. If doing the build over, I'd skip cabinets go with more open space and just stack pelican cases or something similar with gear or food inside.
And back to the point........our SMB just hit 68k miles. Looking forward to many more.
