Seeing lots of people with Agile RIP, is this the same as what SMB does to there vans
Hi,
Noticed lots of members talking about likeing the agile RIP mod.
How is this different than what SMB does when they add the 4x4 to ford vans?

The Agile RIP package is an upgrade to the Quigley 4x4 system which by all accounts, greatly improves the van's on and off road handling.
Agile also does 4x4 conversions to 2wd Ford vans and Sprinters vans.

john who works at agile used to work at fox shocks. him and another former member who is no longer with us developed special valveing for the heavier e-series vans. the fox shocks agile sells are custom valved for quigleys and sold as RIP kits. I cant say for sure, but id be surprised if he didn't offer custom valved units for other 4x4 vans as well. its definitely worth your time to call for details. I cant remember seeing any negative feedback from anyone whose purchased shocks from agile.

There's coil springs in the RIP as well.
My Agile 4x4 conversion has settled in nicely, I can't believe how nice it drives in all conditions.

And I do mean settled in. It was good when I drove it home, but it's much better now. Truth be told I was a tad disappointed at first, but it has changed and I am sure that the added weight of my build has a part in it too. I love it.
But yeah, every thread about the RIP kit is very positive. Some folks felt their vans were kind of undriveable until they upgraded. Bottoming out on the slightest bump etc. I don't know this from first hand, just what I have read. But I would think a quigley with a RIP kit is a fine vehicle.

The ones SMB sells are off the shelf from Fox, as I understand it.
Agile are custom valved for our vans.

SMB used to offer both Quigley and their own design. IIRC the Quigley build was a few thousand less. The SMB build has different drive train components that are listed on the SMB site under the 4x4 section. I'm not sure when SMB quit using the Quigley conversions, but there are a lot of Quigley SMB's out there. The Agile package (from what other have told me) helps improve on and off road travel on those conversions. I don't know what Agile uses in their 2wd to 4wd conversions but I've never heard any negative remarks on their builds. That says a lot.
