I have the flat plate heater on my 2010 diesel and don't seem to get real hot water in rear shower? sink is real hot. I traced lines and in rear area it appears both red and blue lines are correct and open. I do notice when I turn the shower dial that plugs in, when turning toward Red (hot) it slows and stops the flow. Other direction says Cold/Blue then Off.
Are the new shower heads temperature regulated...maybe it's seeing the water too hot and is restricting it? Just a guess
[edit] what happens when you run it while the flat plate is cold?

I will double check the lines, and I do see something mounted under the sink that looks like a regulator. Am I correct that the lines to sink and shower both exit that regulator? Tough to tell on mine, but it appears they do. Sink gets very hot quickly, but still shower is cool.
I'll re trace the lines again tonight.
Also I wonder if my dial (shower) that adjust the hot/cold/off may be defective?
other thought I had was to turn off the cold water at that dial
Am I correct that the lines to sink and shower both exit that regulator?
I can't answer that one as I plumbed mine myself. I put the my tempering valve past the sink so that I could have lava hot water there, but not at the shower.

Traced issue to rear shower box/dial. Hot water comes out that rear drain, but for some reason does not come out shower. Any known issues or adjustments with the smb rear shower adjustment? I do notice it seems to go "off" when turing either right or left, left being labeled Hot. Off is supposed to be right. Does yours go off when turned fully to Hot?
It sounds like you have a blocked hot water passage. I'd take apart the control and check it out.
