Rock Slide Retractable Steps

They are no longer being made.

The step/sliders are very cool, and I love mine, but they have been high maintenance. I need to replace the spherical bearings in mine as the salt on Utah roads...

Actually the switch is not meant to leave them down, but UP when off roading. Allows one to open the door while moving--for spotting purposes--without having the step hit something immovable.

Rock Slide Retractable Steps

The wiring shouldn't be bad as the harness is self contained and only requires battery and ground. The magnetic door switches are totally separate from the van's.

When installing the nutserts...

Rock Slide Retractable Steps

Notice that the passenger side deployment is much faster than on Lance's rig--that's what we've been waiting for. Don't like the switch that leaves them down though--I would drive off with them...

Rock Slide Retractable Steps

I've lifted just the outer slider housing, they are solid 3/16 steel so they're kinda heavy--80 to 100 lbs is my guess per side complete.

Re: Rock Slide Retractable Steps

The project is a go. Steve said they'll be $2299.99 per set w/$1000 down. Deposits have been made and we're still going to try and have a set on my rig for the Valley of Fire meet, so SMB'ers will...

Everything, linkage, actuators etc.are inside the slider so they are protected from obstacles, salt and dirt. Ingenious design.
