Nice Rob.

I guess it's time to update this thread. My current battery top handle saw is a Makita 10" bar and it's a great little saw. My only problem with it is I don't have any other Makita...

I like it but I don't take chances on no name tools because of the batteries. In 5 years when you need more batteries will this company be around? For that reason, with this type of saw, I would go...

I've always heard good things about those Steve. I should pick one up.

I may've commented previously on this in this thread but having a winch on a heavy van is, to me, just as important as...

Oh, that's what I meant. That's the one I have and I love that thing. I've had mine for years but still can't believe I went for so long with a face full of sawdust and the noise of a screaming...

I hate thinking about how dangerous saws are, but I know they are. It's for good reason that tree work is probably the most dangerous occupation out there. I typically just cut 5 or 6 times a year...

Dave, I may've said this already but I bought a Kobalt (Lowe's) 12 inch bar and a Stihl 192 climbing saw awhile back. I love them both. MOST of my tree work is done one handed with that awesome...

Re: Which saw?

I agree Gavin. I can't stand the smell of gas but new saws don't put out much stink unless you get really messy with them. Anyway, store it in a Trasharoo, bumper box or roof box and no worries. ...

Re: Which saw?

That's a pretty sweet deal Rally! I would recommend anyone halfway interested jump on that and just return it if you don't like it. I took mine camping last weekend, stored it upright in the...

Re: Which saw?

Thanks MacDad, just last week I went ahead and bought the saw I really wanted, a Stihl MS192T (arborist saw, 14"). I'm keeping the battery saw for the van and my son to use, but I'm like you, I kind...

Re: Which saw?

As promised, here's a quick demo of this saw with some added info in the description. It works great. Nothing like a gas saw of course but I think it will be awesome for the van and uses like this...

Re: Which saw?

Thanks Jeffrey. I forgot to mention that the Kobalt has a 5 year 'no hassle' :o6: return policy on the battery, saw, or charger. That basically means a return since when you have trouble and go...

Re: Which saw?

I do carry one Larrie, but I don't want to be attached to a cord all the time. That's a huge limitation for me, especially if I need to climb a ladder at home or get up on the roof to trim limbs...

Re: Which saw?

Thanks to all. My research has pretty much landed me at the decision that I need two tools.

Small gas chainsaw pros:
1. I want one, and can't seem to stop dwelling on it (Stihl MS192T...

Re: Which saw?

Hmmm, I'm really liking the idea of the cordless chainsaws. Looks like that might be a good addition to the van, and I could add a light or other tool with the same batteries. What I'm liking is...

Re: Which saw?

I'm kind of surprised no one has mentioned a battery powered sawzall. Sawzall may be a somewhat of a layman's term, so for anyone wondering I mean reciprocating saw, like this:

Which saw?

I'm contemplating buying a small chainsaw to add to the van. It's actually a multi-use idea for me. It will go with me on certain trips, not all. I need a smaller trim saw around here anyway. I...
