rain between awning and van = bad
So after Thanksgiving we had a great camping trip in NorCal.. But it rained. A lot.
My Fiamma was awesome, except for the couple inches between the rain gutter on the van and the awning itself. So, I needed a solution. No sense having a nice dry van, and a nice dry patio, if you get wet going between the two.
I picked up some flexible 1/16 ABS plastic, had it cut to a little over 8' by 3".. Cost me $3.
I then dropped it into the gutter and attached it to the back of the awning with some machine screws. I did not attach to the van, allowing it to move a little.
I think it's going to work, although once it's been tested I am going to remove it and put some adhesive sealant between it and the awning to be 100% sure no water gets through..
before I trimmed off excess bolt length:
I only went from front bracket to rear, allowing the brackets to help support the front and rear of ABS piece, wasn't sure they should just be floating out there, probably get torn up by branches, etc:

Thanks for sharing this rallypanam!
I had the same idea after the first heavy rain.... As you said it is a 15min work for less$ but a big improvement.
I just fix it with sikka. Works perfect
My matarial was a sort of rubber-belt. I had it in my stock so that was the easiest way for me

Re: rain between awning and van = bad
Great solutions for a nasty little problem!
I had been eyeing the bottom (also used fir sides) of the garage door rubber seal as a soultion, too. It is about three inches tall, semi-flexible, designed for out door.
Thumbs up!

Just stay out of the rainy areas - simple solution. Come to Baja!

Re: rain between awning and van = bad
I don't use the awning in the rain, or wind.

Great idea Rob. I've had the same idea for awhile but haven't done it yet. Curious to see how it works for you after a few deluges. In the Southeast we get a lot of rain, especially if you do something like plan a camping trip.

Hey Rally and others!
How did this method work for you?
Where did you find your ABS Plastic?
Looking to make the fix before it gets wet. We really needed it this summer.
Thanks!
