Good call on the Limit Straps. This is a new product for me, but I think that is the best solution.
I'll probably look into bending the tab at the top of the spring bucket as well to hold the spring in even though with weight it keeps in there pretty well.

Yes that tab should hold the top of the spring in place. The spring may not hold the axle up and your shock may still be the limiting factor in your suspension drop. If you are going to do any heavy off-roading then you should install limit straps to prevent the shocks from acting as limit straps and topping out when fully extended. Limit straps are cheap compared with buying new shocks

Yes, you are correct, the upper spring retaining latch will secure the spring and is required.
It definitely takes some gentle 'persuasion' to reinstall, and the spring has to be turned just at the right position and seated into the upper buckets.

What coil springs are you using?
Did you measure for your bumpstop height? Do your shocks bottom out before your spring is completely compressed (measure the coils), can be a sign of too long of a shock.
Ideally the shock travel should be about 3/4" greater then the spring length both when compressed and free length. The shock should never be the limiting factor in suspension travel. Use your bumpstop and limiting straps to ensure your shocks are matched as closely as possible to your suspension travel.
It seems the upper spring holding strap could hold the weight of the I-beam and the stock wheel. Adding a front axle and bigger wheels and tires seems well beyond the ability of that strap.

Limit straps are used by Camburg on the 2wd 6” lift.

Jeremy, If it will fit I have the full front suspension off of my 2019 E-350 DRW I am converting. 441 original miles. Not sure what you need it to go on but I figure I would offer.

Just before our first long road trip with the van, I swapped wheels, and tossed to stock rims, with the "not working anyway" TPMS sensors in the backyard, in my "deal with it later" pile. And much to my surprise, the RSC nanny is gone! The ABS still works the Traction control still functions, but no more RSC. Yeah, the TPMS light still flashes, but I got the "cheapo" version of the van, no message center.

Couldn't be happier, next time the dash is out, I'll just cover the TPMS light, and life will be good.

copied from expedition portal..........
So any other ideas to make 05-08 f250 axels work with an 2009 e350 ?
throwing this out before i get the doner truck
After further research im just gonna find a newer front axle to start with and keep rolling with build for now.
