Need Good Place To Have Brakes Checked Near Missoula, MT

I get a shimmy when breaking at high speeds.
I am going north to Glacier Nat Park

Re: NEED GOOD PLACE TO HAVE BREAKS CHECKED NEAR MISSOULA, MT

Don't know of any shops where you are Angel. Sounds like you've got some hard spots or minor warping of your front rotors. Pretty basic brake job and most any decent repair shop can handle it. Just need to have your rotors turned (this can be done on the rig) and then install new pads. If the whole thing takes more then a couple of hours (should be less) then they're screwing around.
Good luck.

Angel,

I have agree with Scatter. You probably have some deposits on your rotors. Usually caused by getting the brakes hot (braking downhill) and then stopping with the brake pedal still pressed. As the parts cool, some of the pad is deposited on the rotor. That causes the friction to vary as the rotor turns.

If you are Hwy 93 near Stevensville, Montana, which is about 45 miles south of Missoula, the Les Schwab store there is great. I've known that store since they opened and they do good work and will be fair.

Angel

I can second the Les Schwab recommendation although I live in Oregon. The company is based on service and taking care of the customers needs in a friendly and efficient manner.

Thanks for all your replies !!!!!!!. I am now Arlee headed for Kalispell. The problem does not happen every time so I decided to move on. I will wait till I get back home--unless it gets worse on this trip. I am going on Banff. I will probably come home through Washington and Oregon. If it get worse I will post again for a good repair place on my route.
