Starting at the beginning

I have been drooling over the SMBs for a while and the time has come to actually pull the trigger.

Until I discovered this forum, I was not aware there were as many choices as there are in terms of 4x4 conversions, etc.

At this point, I think I have decided to get an E350 and do the conversion steps piece meal as time and funds allow. Furthermore, I am not 100% sure how I want the inside to look. Sounds like the Agile RIP is starting to be come required equipment.

I have seen several partial discussions about pros and cons of gas vs. diesel.

Is there a thread dedicated exclusively to this topic?

Regarding Gas vs. Diesel, there are a number of threads in this sub-forum, so feel free to read, or add to, the existing threads, but please don's start any new threads on the subject. The subject has been beat to death, and usually gets people on both sides all wound up.

Re: Starting at the beginning

Welcome! And let me summarize the 500 gas vs. diesel threads

Gas is too expensive.

Diesel is too expensive.

The one I have is better than the one you have.

The one you have is better than the one I have.

They are all too expensive.

They cause you too spend even more money on stuff you don't need after you bought something already too expensive.

Enjoy!

Re: Starting at the beginning

Just to clarify something in your post. The Agile RIP packages is typically a modification to the quigley 4x4 system. Ramsey can correct me if I am wrong but if you did an Agile Off Road 4x4 system it would come with similar goodies but would not need the RIP package. Similarly, if you went with Ujoint 4x4 package you would not need the RIP.

Re: Starting at the beginning

Right, the agile RIP kit is for both Quigley or quadvan conversions with the coil front end. If you find a passenger van with either of those converted already to start your build, or you go with them for your conversion you may want to look into it, otherwise not needed. Gas/diesel-if you're towing or doing long hauls get a diesel. Look at www.coloradocampervan.com for your pop top.

Is there a reading comprehension issue at work here? BroncoHauler is a Moderator, we should probably take him seriously...

Re: Starting at the beginning

I think the comment was a fair stated opinion and not a new topic.

Agile or Ujoint is solid advice, IMO. You could also contact them directly to see if there are any available vans for sale or will be for sale. Ujoint has a customer's 02 7.3 pop-top posted in the classifieds, not sure about any Agile vans.

To dig deeper into gasoline vs diesel just use google and spend the rest of your life on all of the forums out there, the banter will serenade you to starvation like a sweet siren's song.
