It is a sickness I have - can't pass up a cool project.
Sometimes even I think I'm crazy.
Last year we had so much fun at the NORRA Mexican 1000 that I couldn't resist getting a vintage racer for next year. Well "getting" it is a bit of a stretch as I am in San Diego and it is still in Corvallis, Oregon.
I sold my other race truck yesterday and it is now in Nevada, so I have room for it, but no time to go get it.
It is a 1969 Ford Bronco, that was stretched in the front and converted to leaf springs (why I don't know) and raced in the early '70s. It has a Chevy 383 stroker motor with 13:1 compression, which is why it is apart on the ground. Previous owner drove it with pump gas...

Aside from the sacrilege of Chevy motor in a Bronco, that's pretty damn cool.
If you don't have the history of that race Bronco, it wouldn't surprise me if Todd Zuercher knows some of the story. He's a wealth of knowledge on Broncos, let alone race Broncos.

Interesting project you have there. I'm going out on a limb and guess you won't be able to put plates on it and drive it down, even with a streetable engine. Well, not very far out on a limb.
The fab work looks nice. How fast do you need to go for the wing to be effective?

That's almost a Big Oly style wing. Very typical for the period.

Todd is a friend, both he and Andrew are not familiar with it but gave the purchase two thumbs up.

I live in Corvallis. You are welcome to stay at our house if you need a place to stay or clean up. Beware of weekends with home football games for the OSU Beavers. No hotel rooms, lots of traffic, and full restaurants.
Looks like a nice project. Use to cruise around the AZ desert in a rail frame dune buggy. Great fun.

Thank you for the offer. It is actually in Philomath, which is close to Corvallis I'm told. I'll probably have it shipped down. If not, it would be a good trip in the SMB and flat tow it back.

Philomath is 5 miles west of Corvallis.

I haven't heard the name Bill Stroppe mentioned in a long time...
Baja: nice Bronco! Did you happen to know Scott McKenzie?
