Great report, there are lots of roads like that in the PNW. The good part is the growth keeps out 99% of the people, so when you arrive at your destination you have it all to yourself. I've been down plenty of those, but try to stop short of any serious damage. I do carry a saw to trim the bigger stuff, and I designed my solar panel racks to guide the limbs over the top, but the sides still get pretty scratched up. Looks like a fun trip.

Got the new van pinstriped just this year running through brush to get to a spot with no other campers. Its worth it in my opinion. I use to carry a very sharp machete, hedge trimmer, and pruning sheers. Now I just plow through, only stopping to take out the big stuff. Once its scratched up, then its easy. Its those initial scratches that are hardest to digest. Ha!

This is why I don't mount anything on the outside of my van (racks, jacks, etc.)!

Here are more photos of that trip:

I know it may not be a big deal but if you did have exterior mounted stuff it also strengthens the bumpers so some limbs may snap off as well. I have considered some thick military grade canvas tarps attached to my sliders and roof rack but have not arrived at that need yet!
