Advice Needed- Colorado to Georgia and Back Again

It looks like we might be taking 10 days off around Christmas to visit my sister in Atlanta and are considering driving the SMB down. Does anyone have advice for things to see along the way or worthy detours that might change our Mapquest suggestion?

I will definitely be bringing the mountain bike since the snow in Colorado at 9000' rarely allows the pleasure. I also am a huge fan of ribs so if anyone can recommend some "fall off the bone" BBQ, Memphis or St Louis style, I would appreciate it.

I already have a suggestions to hit the Ozarks so it's on the map!

Thanks for your help!

Adam

What route are you thinking about?

There are a ton of pretty spots, National and State forest along the way, through Arkansas, Tennessee and North Carolina.

We did part of what could be your route when we went from TX to DC.

Looking at heading down to Oklahoma City and through Memphis on the way to Atlanta. Return so far is north through Nashville and then west through St Louis and Kansas City.
