I will soon be rafting the San Juan River in southern Utah and am looking for a primitive campsite to stay in after we take-out at Clay Hills. I've seen high praise for both Muley Point and Goosenecks State Park. Does anyone who has visited both rate one higher than the other?
I know Goosenecks SP has a fee but it otherwise looks to be fairly primitive.
Checked out Muley Point first. It was windy, overcast and the lighting was flat so not very interesting. Would still have been fine to camp but it was early enough to head over to Valley of the Gods. So glad we did. Milder weather, sun and a great setting to camp. Loved it.
