Ok, that sucked.
One thing to be said for the newer taller design: it's way, way easier to get a clean sealant install.
Not happy about having to do this all again either.

Hi Jage! Thanks for your post on Sportsmobile regarding replacing the Fantastic Fan in your Penthouse. WE have just ordered a penthouse install with bed on our 2018 Dodge ProMaster van. Promaster won't install any vent fan with the penthouses now, either on the penthouse or side wall. Having loved the ventilation in our RoadTrek, we just have to have the same fan in our new rig.
With your experience, would you recommend a roof installation? It looks like the reinforcement frame you created will allow a good seal and prevent further leaks. Did it work? Thanks for a great post with lots of pix!

I would put one in the roof again, but I like the fan over the seats and the back to front flew from a vent window in the rear.
Do a search on here, LenS did a great write up of putting one in an SMB ph top against all manufacturer advice and seems to have worked out amazingly.

Thanks, everyone for your posts about adding a Fantastic Fan Vent to Penthouse roof. We may be following your helpful advice, however, one of the posts on this forum mentioned a window fan made by the same company. No one mentioned this possibility when I spoke with people at Fantastic Fan, but they may not have realized that we will have 14x14" windows just the right size to seal up around the fan and pull air through the van. So much easier than cutting holes in our new ProMaster - we have to try the window fan first! Has anyone tried the window fan for ventilation?

The stand-alone fan by Fantastic Fan is called “Endless Breeze.” It’s basically the same fan just in a stand-alone housing. We’ve had one for several years and it works great. Usually we just run it on the lowest setting and that’s enough on most days.

Ditto, the Fantastic Fan works great. I carried it with me on the airplane when we picked up the van in Austin in September, it was a lifesaver!
