penthouse gasket questions

HI, newbie questions here

1. Are the "cap plugs" that SMB sells in its store (Parts, P. 1) the same thing as the "rivots" it references when they are selling the Penthouse top rubber gasket (Parts, p. 3)?

2. What is the proper type of car wash to use with the Penthouse top? Can I go into one called "brushless"?

Thanks for your patience with my newbie questions.

Re: penthouse gasket questions

the cap plugs are for the bolts on top and inside that secure the top. The plugs are what hold the rubber strip to the top and are not listed on the site.

My van will not fit in any car-wash so its always by hand

Re: penthouse gasket questions

hmm, but I assume SMB will sell the plugs for the gasket? I can't tell if my gasket is just floppy and worn or if I just need new plugs.
