Snorkel

I have a 7.3 '02 E350 Sportsmobile and the lower intake part of my airbox has cracked in multiple places. I figure this might be a good time to sort out a snorkel for the van, instead of replacing the part and then sorting the snorkel later. My reason for a snorkel is cleaner air. I believe the stock air box and filter setup just can't handle driving with others on dusty dirt roads.

Has anyone done this?
Is there a unit I can buy off the shelf without modifiying?
Is this worth doing?

Thanks for all the help

Especially true in the desert. Try driving in a convoy of 4 or more vehicles. Even separating yourselves by 1/4 mile can leave a lot of dust in the air.

Re: Snorkel

I've read through those other two posts, but didn't find any real good info about either making a custom unit or buying one that works off the shelf. I want to put one on, just want it to make sense financially and install wise. Any more info or thoughts? Any other pics of vans with snorkels?

Re: Snorkel

I am hoping to finish my 3 1/2" down pipe from turbo, to 4" the rest of the way out this week. The next thing on the list was the intake. A snorkel may just be the proper way to make that work. I will be keeping a close eye on this subject.
