Re: What did you do to your SMB today?

Recoated my PH top with Poli-Glow for another season of shine and sparkle! Needs to be done yearly, but it keeps the unpainted top looking good. I can deal with a couple of hours a year. - that's less than waxing and with better results.

Added a switch so I can switch on my back up camera when I am going forward. It goes on automatically when I put the SMB in reverse.

Re: What did you do to your SMB today?

Made a couple of small cable asseblies to hang my Fantastic Vent Endless Breeze Fan from the front two penthouse clamps. Hanging there it can blow back onto us, or out the front window for a more subtle cooling effect.

The cables have loops on both ends and one end loops onto the penthouse clamp hook and the other end is captured by the handle on the fan. That way they can be removed by taking off the handle and replacing it.

Since BW is here to tell me this post is worthless without pictures, I feel safe with only the description of what I did.

Here are a couple of pictures of my fan:

The fan inside the front window

The cable loops to hang it

You can buy the 1/16" steel cable and the ferrules at most home improvement stores - Home Depot or Lowes. I used a standard electrical crimper on the ferrules.

Re: What did you do to your SMB today?

Replaced the starter motor. It had been feeling weak for a while, and then it up and died (shorted out). At least it happened in my driveway and not out in the middle of nowhere.

While down there, I finally found a crack in one of my radius arms, a known problem (that I learned about on this forum) with the Quigley U-shaped arms. Time to contact Quigley and order new round ones. Who said they were glad to finally be done spending money on their SMB?

Got tired of the ugly "bath tub" ring in the two wells below the windshield where the washers come out.

Just drilled a hole in the bottom of each one.

Now to scrub out the mess.

I've done a lot to my van since I bought it used 1 1/2 years ago. Here are the before and after pictures:

Added Aluminess bumpers and ladder, Action Van lift and suspension systems, ARB locking differential, new 17" tires and wheels, Bushwhacker flares, rear air bags, front sway bar, steering stabilizer, CB radio, cell phone booster, 60" HiLift jack and more.

Not technically a "today"....

Reminds me, two days ago I added UHA tape around the PH.
