Re: What did you do to your SMB today?

Replaced the smaller charge air cooler hose on the turbo yesterday. What a pain in the a$$! I pulled the doghouse off thinking I could get to it from there to no avail. I ended up removing all the items one would to clean the EGR valve. Got it done but not after scraping the crap out of my arm.
This hose partially blew apart the other day when getting on the interstate. Symptoms being loss of power and increased noise from the engine compartment, kinda like a jet. I limped it home. Thankfully there were no hills.

Installed the Thule carrier, one step closer to getting on the road finally. Also noticed I should have changed the transfer case fluid 2500 miles ago.

My newly completed rear bumper!
Made by an awesome fab/welder here in San Diego, Pinobuilt.

We already tested it by dragging the butt of the van this weekend.

I refilled the propane and then forgot to turn the propane back on. I didn't notice until about 2AM when it got real cold.

Re: What did you do to your SMB today?

I practiced dropping my TransferFlow tank. Why practicing, well, it would seem I have to do it again. My roll over valves have leaked since the day I got the van when the tank is full and I park on an angle. TF told me quite some time ago that the tabs on the tank that "lock down" the roll over valves needed to be bent in some so the roll over valve would snug down tighter. I did that, but apparently not enough or the valve(s) are cracked. The front one leaks quite bad. The rear one isn't as bad, but still leaks.

On the good side, I'm now pretty comfortable removing the tank now. Had to remove the propane tank to reach the font driver side bolt nuts. Used an inexpensive transmission jack to lower both the propane tank and fuel tank. It worked pretty well.

On the bad side, just put in $160 worth of diesel I need to burn off before I take another stab at this.

Always learning ...

But at today's prices, that's only something like 6 gallons, isn't it?

... and with my mileage, that's just a quick trip to the store.

Re: What did you do to your SMB today?

Made and installed some delrin supports for the, shall we say, delicate, Aluminess swing away carriers; a' la our friend Skywagon.

Planning on adding more weight to the tire carrier and wanted it to, like, not break. Made one for both sides.

Has anyone ever installed roller bearings in the Aluminess swing away arms?
