Re: What did you do to your SMB today?

Added a locking stop to my Aluminess Spare Tire mount.

Fabricated the stop from a piece of scrap I had.

3/4" thick was perfect for this application

Pin locks the spare in the open position

Re: What did you do to your SMB today?

100,000 mile 'tuneup'.

- Replaced the serpentine belt. Old one looked fine.

- Replaced both radiator hoses. Old ones looked fine.

- Flushed the brake fluid.

- Replaced a split boot on turbo to intercooler line. No more 'wooosh' when I use the boost.

- Replaced one heater hose. The one that was 'jury-rigged' in Newfoundland last year.

- Fresh coolant

- New thermostat

I bought the parts and the labor was $506. He said it is almost time to replace the rear brake pads.

Now I'm good for another 100K. Well at least there are a few less things to worry about when I am 60 miles away from a paved road.

Re: What did you do to your SMB today?

I used the standard Ford coolant, also known as Zerex G05.

A lot of diesel guys swear at that coolant, but I've had no problems and it is too much trouble to flush it out completely and switch to ELC.

Re: What did you do to your SMB today?

Peeled off the Sportsmobile Forum magnet off the Sprinter van door. It was stuck to the paint. Backing is stuck to the paint I had thought till now that was just a Rocky Mountain time zone problem...

Van weather cover (aka snowsuit) arrived in the mail today for install next week after probably our last camping trip of the season before winterizing. Wow, 7K miles 3 states, 2 provinces and 30+days of great camping travel in 6 months sure was fun.
