Mystery accessory wires under dash?

Hi gang,

I’m beginning to remove a bunch of disused accessory wiring installed by previous owners, or from the factory in my ‘96 E350 EB SMB. There is a LOT. It’s a serious rat’s nest under the steering column! I’ll try to get a pic but it’s a tough place to shoot.

I ran across these two little guys and I can’t figure out what on earth they might have been for. Not labeled. They are like tiny coaxial cables, with really thin wire — like angel’s hair pasta or maybe kitchen string. They disappear up into the dash alongside the doghouse (driver’s side).

Any ideas? Also a pic of my dog, just for fun.

Thanks, Marco

Could be HF antenna wires for GPS, FW radio or such.

Can’t help with the wires, but good to see Subaru’s ads are gaining traction with the canine population…still, I’d be hesitant to give them their own key since reaching the brake pedal may not be without issue.

Ha! No worries, he’s not old enough to drive, even in dog years. I
